Guys and Pies is SOLD OUT!

On January 23rd, Magpie will have it's first pie making class geared just for men!. Learn how to bake our Apple Cheddar Pie while the guys from Saint Benjamin Brewing Company will be on hand to sample their English Mild Ale. We will be serving dinner of Shepherd's Pie with Cauliflower Mash and a green salaf followed by slices of our Signature Buttuerscotch Bourbon Pie topped with fresh whipped cream. Cost is $90 per person and reservations can be made by calling the shop at 267-519-2904. Hurry - we only have a limited number of spaces available and they fill up fast. [ Read more ]

The bakers at Magpie will be taking a winter break from December 25th to January 2nd. We will reopen with new additions to our menu on January 3rd. We will be open on Tuesday, December 24th from 8AM to 2PM for holiday pie order pick ups. We will have a limited supply of sweet slices and savories, but unfortunately NO whole pies for sale. Happy Holiday and thank you to all of our loyal customers for making 2013 a sweet year!

With her neat apron, twinkly eyes and silver-threaded brown hair knotted behind a handkerchief, Holly Ricciardi looks like she should be smiling at you from a box of cake mix.

Not that the graphic-designer-turned-pie-regent of South Street would want you to use that store-bought junk.  Last week, during the first in a series of upcoming pie classes at her charming Magpie bakeshop, Ricciardi recoiled cartoonishly when students (myself included) admitted to using pre-made crusts of the Pillsbury sort. Lined up along the flour-dusted marble counter, we freshmen rolled rounds of Magpie dough, moving swiftly in one direction with our pins, giving them quarter-turns, rolling again, adding flour, turning them, over and over.  [ Read More ]

We are now taking orders for Thanksgiving till Saturday, November 23rd. Pick up will be Wednesday, November 27th from 8AM to 2PM. Choose from our Buttery Caramel Apple, Pumpkin Streusel, Butterscotch Bourbon and Chocolate Coffee Cinnamon Pecan. All pies are nine inches and serve 8 guests.
